The Model M-22 Automatic Multipacker consists of a specially modified S-24C High Production L-Sealer on which an automatic right-angle accumulating infeed has been installed for orienting and grouping a series of products.
OPERATION
A Multipacker is used to make a typical unit pack
(e.g.. 6 sterns oriented in 2 rows of 3 abreast).
Producls are fed onto the infeed conveyor, which
delivers them to the accumulating section. When
three products are in front of the insertion arm, it
moves them part way to the seating area and
returns to its retracted position. After three more
products are moved into the accumulating section,
the insertion arm moves all six into the sealing area
where they are overwrapped and sealed. When
sealing is completed, the discharge conveyor
moves the pack to the shrink tunnel. When the
package leaves the tunnel, it is a neat, tight, fully
overwrapped grouping of products. Groupings of
different numbers of items can be obtained by adjusting the machine and selecting the number of
strokes desired.
The basic components of the infeed are a product feeding conveyor, an accumulating conveyor, and a specialized right-angle inserting unit for feeding the grouping of products into the sealing areas. Available accessories include right-angle transfer mechanisms, product up-enders, product up-stackers, and special product- accumulating conveyors.
