An L-bar system is simply a machine that applies heat and pressure to a polyolefin shrink film in order to effect a proper seal. L-Sealers utilize centerfolded shrink film and seal open edges in the machine direction as well as the leading and trailing edges in the transverse direction.
A semi-automatic L-sealer increases product input by automating steps within the packaging
process. Usually a semi-automatic wrapper will have a discharge conveyor that automatically
takes the bagged product to the shrink tunnel once the seal bars have cycled and opened by
themselves. This makes the operator only responsible for loading the product, advancing the
film and product into the seal area and lowering the seal bars. Note that the degree of
automation will vary depending on the make of the machine.
