Description
The model Auto Skin-Trim-Economy (AST-E) is an entry level, automatic, in-line skin packaging machine with built in hydraulic die cutting, which was specifically designed to bring affordable automation into locations where manual machines were previously used. The AST-E utilizes 18" x 24" master cards and is ideally suited for applications where the product is conventionally located: on top of the card. The AST-E features 2 open stations for product loading, skin pack station, die cutting station and package discharge station. Other automated Zed in-line skin packaging systems, the AST, AST-10 & Skin-N-Trim, are available with numerous options for increased productivity and provide flexibility to meet any skin packaging application (i.e. computer control systems with job memory, additional product loading stations, parts which protrude through the card, magnetic board infeed for ferrous metal parts which have a tendency to shift, blister, forming cycle, etc).
Operation
The operator places the master card onto the infeed conveyor, which automatically indexes through the product loading stations and into the automatic skin packaging station. The card is then indexed through a hydraulic trim press which utilizes steel rule dies to trim the mastercard into individual packages complete with hanger holes if required. Speed is adjustable to pace the operators, and to insure that the product loaders can keep up with machine cycle times, generally 4 - 6 per minute, depending upon card layout, product to be packaged, card and skin material, etc.

Available Options
- Trim die locator system; Allows for fine tuning and X & Y axis adjustment of the trim die while the machine is in operation.
- Trim die sensor system; Detects if parts are out ofposition in trim press and stops press, so as not to ruin steel rule trim die.
- Template load system; allows for a template to be located over the card for ease of product placement and alignment. This option is located over one product to load station.
- Extra roll holder, bar & end bells; makes film roll changeovers faster.
- Auxiliary card feeder; self standing, automatic mastercard feeder. (This option is located over the card load station.)
