Description
The model L-2 is a sheet fed general purpose vacuum forming machine which is available as a standard vacuum former with an up-moving platen, vacuum and air eject systems. By adding the various available options, the L-2 can be manufactured with both top & bottom moving platen and controls to accomplish all forming techniques including pressure forming, vacuum snap back, bubble immersion, etc. This unit is ideally suited for sampling blisters, trays, formed parts, pre-production samples, heavy gauge parts (such as machine covers, etc.), laboratory experiments and is capable of production runs.
Operation
The model L-2, with all the options, operates as follows: Plastic sheet is placed in the clamp frame and the clamp frame is locked, the two-hand start buttons are depressed (to initiate the timer controlled automatic cycle), the clamp frame moves back into the heater area, heat cycle is timed, clamp frame moves back into the forming station, the top and bottom rams (with tools mounted to them) moves into the sheet (speed control of the rams is used to determine which ram will meet the plastic sheet first), the part is formed, cool cycle, the platens retract, blow off, and the finished formed part may then be removed, and the process repeated.

Options
- Air filter, regulator and gauge.
- Clamp frame movement system, replaces standard manual movement with this cylinder driven type to automatically slide clamp frame back and forth into heater area and form press.
- Top plug assist system, this is an optional cylinder driven top assist mechanism allowing for the use of plug and grid assist, or similar.
- Pressure forming system, allows pressure forming capability (requires optional top plug assist system listed above).
- Digital timer control upgrade.
- Cooling fan, externally mounted fan to assist with part cooling after forming.
- Alternate voltages: 440V, 460V, 480V, etc., rather than standard 220V.
- Epoxy paint; "Steel-It" or White, rather than standard tan enamel, for medical or special applications.
- Computer control upgrade, optional controls system featuring industrial computer, color touch screen operator interface panel with Windows based operating system, provides job memory and self diagnostics, trouble-shooting guide, etc.
- This system based upon and closely matches controls on Zed SC Series of computer controlled inline pressure formers.
Alternate Heating Systems
(std. machine has flat-black top heater only, no bottom heater):
- Bottom heater (cal-rod type), with percentage timer control.
- Bottom heater (flat black, far infrared type), with digital temperature control.
- Multi-zone ceramic top heater system, replaces standard flat black far infrared type heaters, with digital temperature controls 4 - 6 zones depending upon customer voltage.
- Multi-zone ceramic bottom heater system, digital temperature controls, 4- 6 zones depending upon customer voltage.
- Sheet sensor system, allows sheet temperature to be monitored via pyrometer sensor.
